Massimo Tamburini: The Visionary

At the helm of Cagiva's prestigious Research Centre in San Marino Italy, Massimo Tamburini concepted and designed the ingenious Ducati 916. Released in 1994, the 916 was an instant sensation with it's striking appearance, innovative designs, and superior handling. Since it's introduction the 916 has won 5 World Superbike titles, and years later it continues to dominate in the racing world as well as at turning heads. Critics agree that the 916's is clearly it one of the most beautiful motorcycles ever designed, and it is universally considered a 'modern classic'. In 1998 the world renowned Guggenheim Museum in New York opened the traveling exhibition of two wheeled art. The Art of The Motorcycle exhibit featured two of Mr. Tamburini's designs, the Ducati 916 and the fabulous new MV Agusta F4, the flagship Agusta's revival. Prior to heading Cagiva's design and research center, (CRC) and back when the 916 was just a twinkle in his eye, Massimo was busy co-founding the legendary Bimota brand; hence the "ta" in the Bimota name. He designed the SB2, Bimota's first streetbike, which was released in 1977, and like the 916 it had many performance features and esthetics that were years ahead of their time. Mr. Tamburini also designed several 250 and 350cc bikes that have garnered several world titles over the years. His most recent project is the fabulous new MV Augusta F4, and the re-launch of the historic MV Agusta name. Only 300 hand built examples of the Series ORO will be made, and of course, all are already long spoken for with waiting list for the hopefuls. Massimo Tamburini is unquestionably one of the most influential and innovative motorcycle designers of the century. His rare signature on the first 150 artist proofs makes them a highly desirable collectors print with excellent investment potential.
